- City CouncilThe City of Franklin Common Council consists of seven members who serve as the legislative branch of the City of Franklin. The members are elected by voters in their district and each member serves a four-year term. Indiana Handgun Licensing Information
Residents of the State of Indiana must now apply for their handgun license online.
All City of Franklin applicants need to visit the Franklin Police Department, AFTER completing the online application, to pay local handgun license fees (a small fee will be assessed for all debit/credit card payments) within 60 days of the online application. Our office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are closed Saturday, Sunday and most Federal Holidays. All applicants must produce a valid Indiana driver's license or Indiana state ID showing their current address at the time they make payment to our department.
Upon payment of the local fee, applicants will be given a receipt. All other documentation will be handled electronically.
Upon completion of our background investigation and the Indiana State Police's background investigation, the Indiana State Police will send either a handgun license or letter of denial to the applicant.
