- City CouncilThe City of Franklin Common Council consists of seven members who serve as the legislative branch of the City of Franklin. The members are elected by voters in their district and each member serves a four-year term. The city council meets the first and third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are open to the public, and held in City Hall, located at 70 E. Monroe Street.

Discover Downtown Franklin will be hosting the second annual Smoke on the Square BBQ Competition in downtown Franklin June 22nd - 23rd! This year's event is in memory of local downtown employee and Smoke on the Square 2011 participant, David Harness. The competition brings professional teams from all over Indiana and the Midwest to our city for a chance to be named Grand Champion. The teams will begin cooking on Friday, June 22nd during the Blue River Band concert. After cooking all night, the teams will turn in their creations for judging beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 23rd. The public is encouraged to come out and watch these professionals compete while enjoying live music on the courthouse square. Amateur barbecue and dessert categories will also be available.
