Event Description:

The 4th Friday Summer Concert Series continues on the courthouse square on Friday, July 22nd, 2011 from 5:00 pm-9:00 pm. This months event sponsors are CenturyLink and PNC Bank and includes a live performance by local talent Ben Shively and Governor Davis & the Blues Ambassadors on E. Court St., the movie "The Apple Dumpling Gang" will be playing at the Artcraft Theatre, Boys & Girls Club and Girls, Inc. will be joining us, and a classic car cruise-in will take place on North Main Street. Plenty of free parking will be available. Discover Downtown Franklin invites all classic car enthusiasts to bring their classic cars into downtown Franklin on Friday, July 22nd. Parking will be reserved on North Main Street in front of the Artcraft Theatre and in the county and city parking lots across from the theatre. Reserved parking begins at 5:00 p.m. and is open to anyone who wants to show off his or her classic car! Admission is free and open to anyone interested. Franklin Heritage will be showing "The Apple Dumpling Gang at the Artcraft Theatre at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Don Knotts stars in this 1970s family comedy about how three orphan children strike gold in 1878 California. For more information or to purchase tickets in advance contact Franklin Heritage at (317) 736-6823. Governor Davis & the Blues Ambassadors, a 5 piece ensemble, combine the music of B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, and many others. The band was voted Indy's #1 Blues Band in NUVO Newsweekly's Readers Poll. Dont miss this high energy blues performance on the Courthouse Lawn from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Tickets are not required; the event is free to the public. Remember to bring your own lawn chair or blanket and relax! It's guaranteed to be a great musical evening. Boys & Girls Club and Girls, Inc. will be joining us on the Courthouse Lawn providing information about their services and mission. They will also be accepting donations and registering volunteers. Discover Downtown Franklin is a non-profit organization that strives to create and maintain community traditions, celebrate the historic nature of downtown Franklin Indiana, and promote its uniqueness to central Indiana and the surrounding region. Through collaboration with various entities in the community DDF will encourage a healthy economic atmosphere in historic downtown Franklin.
