- City CouncilThe City of Franklin Common Council consists of seven members who serve as the legislative branch of the City of Franklin. The members are elected by voters in their district and each member serves a four-year term. The city council meets the first and third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are open to the public, and held in City Hall, located at 70 E. Monroe Street.

New! DDF will be hosting the inaugural Smoke on the Square BBQ Competition in downtown Franklin on June 25 11:00 am-5:00 pm! This state competition will bring professional teams from all over Indiana and the Midwest to our city for a chance to be named Grand Champion. The teams will begin cooking on Friday, June 24th during our 4th Friday concert. After cooking all night, the teams will turn in their creations for judging beginning at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 25th. The public is encouraged to come out and watch these professionals compete while enjoying live music on the courthouse square. Sample BBQ and decide who you think should win the People's Choice Award. Make sure to bring your appetite, there will be several food vendors as well as beverages!Want a chance to cook alongside the professionals? Enter the Backyard Anything But Competition! This competition is for anyone interested in showcasing their personal barbeque skills. Bring your own grill from home, your choice of meat, and your own family recipe.
There is also a chance for the public to compete in the Backyard Dessert Category. Bring your best dessert and enter it for a chance to win cash prizes.
