Discover Downtown Franklins 7th annual Street Fest will include their Strawberries on the Square annual fundraiser, the Lion's Club Fish Fry, FHI Garage Sale, and marks the beginning of the DDF 4th Friday events. This months 4th Friday includes a classic car cruise-in, kids activities, the classic rock stylings of The Woomblies, and the movie "Bye, Bye Birdie at the Artcraft Theatre. The Johnson County Museum of History and the Johnson County Garden Club will be joining us on the courthouse square. Plenty of free parking will be available. The 5th Annual Franklin Heritage, Inc. Garage Sale will take place 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. in the parking lot on North Main Street across from The Artcraft Theatre. This sale is only for Friday so stop by early to find a bargain! Anyone interested in donating items for the sale, please contact Franklin Heritage at 317-736-6823. Discover Downtown Franklin invites all classic car enthusiasts to bring their classic cars into downtown Franklin on Friday, May 27th. Parking will be reserved on North Main Street across from the Artcraft Theatre and in the adjoining parking lot. Reserved parking begins at 5:00 p.m. Franklin Heritage will be showing "Bye, Bye Birdie" at the Artcraft Theatre at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie is granting one of his fan club winners a kiss before he joins the Army! Join Dick Van Dyke, Janet Leigh, Ann Margaret and Ed Sullivan in this 1960s musical comedy. Discover Downtown Franklin will host Strawberries on the Square from 11:00 a.m. until they sell out. Volunteers will serve cake, ice cream, fresh strawberries, whipped cream and a bottle of water for $5.00. This event is DDFs annual fundraiser that helps provide funding for our 4th Friday events which will occur every fourth Friday from May through August. The Lion's Club Fish Fry will be held Friday and Saturday, May 27th and 28th, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the public parking lot at the corner of Water Street and East Monroe Street. The Lion's Club has been having fish fry's since the club was chartered in 1945. Proceeds from these events benefit several groups throughout the community including: mini-grants to all First Grade classes in Franklin, High School Scholarships, vision screenings, the Inter-Church Food Pantry, Johnson County Good Cheer Fund, the Boy's and Girls Club, and many more. The Woomblies will perform on stage on the courthouse square from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Come and enjoy classic rock favorites and original hits from this popular Indy band. This event is open to the public and seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. It is recommended that the public bring their personal lawn chairs or blankets. The 4th Friday events have something to offer every member of the family. We have activities for kids, a cruise-in for car enthusiasts, and concerts on the courthouse square. During your visit downtown make sure to visit our local merchants and see all the wonderful things that Franklin has to offer.
