Event Description:

As we all well know, there were many families affected in numerous communities by the unexpected floods that occurred this past summer.  On Saturday, February 7, 2009 Franklin Community High School will host Franklin Community Basketball Day for Flood Relief in order to continue to provide aid to those families.  This event will consist of Franklin Community Middle School and Franklin Community High School boys' basketball teams playing against Columbus Northside Middle School and Columbus East High School beginning at 11:30 am.  The 7th grade, 8th grade, Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams will be playing throughout the day and into the evening.  In addition to the basketball games, Franklin will play host to a silent auction and bake sale to raise money.  The entire day will be presented by a variety of corporate sponsors.  All money collected from the auction, bake sale, and sponsors will be donated to flood relief victims via the United Way of Johnson County, as well as a donation to the United Way of Bartholomew County.

Game times are as follows:

·        7th Grade:  11:30 am

·        8th Grade:  1:00 pm

·        Freshman: 4:00 pm

·        Junior Varsity: 6:00 pm

·        Varsity:  7:30 pm

Baked items should be brought to FCHS the day of the event.  Baskets for the auction should be brought to FCMS, and will be held there until the day of the event.  Anyone with questions regarding interest in volunteering their time, baked items, baskets for the auction, or making a donation should contact Jason Schilk, FCMS teacher and basketball coach, via email at schilkj@fcsc.k12.in.us or by phone at 317-374-3995.  All checks should be made out to United Way of Johnson County, memo: Flood Relief.
